World Breastfeeding Week ran from 1st August this year and to mark the close of this year's event 35 Crewe mums, dads and youngsters all gathered for a picnic outside Crewe Library. The theme for this year was peer support (breastfeeding mums who support other breastfeeding mums). Within East Cheshire there is a peer support scheme in place where volunteers assist at local Cherubs groups and within the local Hospitals. A mum who has "been there and done it" is a valuable tool in encouraging a new mum to try breastfeeding and overcome hurdles to keep breastfeeding.
